Our Carehome Service

Over the past 5 years, Pharmalogic have had an excellent response from care and nursing homes across the North West region. Our client portfolio has grown to such a level that we have created a dedicated division specifically focused to provide services to care providers, from our centre at Clayton-le-Woods, opened in 2014. At present, Pharmalogic serve care and nursing homes across the whole of the North West region, from as far as: Meir in the South, to Kendal in the North; Colne in the East to Blackpool, Southport, and Liverpool, in the West. We serve smaller independent care homes to those within larger groups including 16 homes under Lancashire County Council control.

The Biodose Difference

As part of our commitment to care homes we have integrated a total medication management system in partnership with Protomed, the creators of Biodose - the first innovative medication management system in the world designed to accommodate liquid medication alongside tablets and capsules, saving valuable staff time as they no longer need to pour and measure at the bedside.

The Biodose system has proven to reduce medication rounds by up to 65% - the medication will be pre-packed in a pod ready for the patient to take. Each pod will be individually labelled with the correct drug detail, patient name and interval time. This will help reduce medication errors and help the home to protect and increase their CQC rating.

The Biodose system offers maximum protection for residents, care staff and management. It will promote mobility and confidence amongst self-medicators, by having each individual liquid and tablet dose labelled with the relevant information, printed with the MAR sheet alongside a photographic picture of the drug and the patient it belongs to.

The superior seal of the blister enables drugs such as Epilim, Heminevrin, Hydroscopic drugs, Effervescent tablets etc to also be blistered along with all the other medication.

The Biodose system is quick and easy to use, simply peel pod and administer. The advantages of the Biodose system are:

  • It saves time
  • It is more hygienic
  • Lightweight and comes with compact trolley by helping the home by providing suitable storage solution.

The ergonomic, stackable packaging design incorporates:

  • Patient name
  • Photograph
  • Medication
  • Day, date and time of administration making it easier for the home to distribute the medication.
